小丑魚艷麗的『膚色』容易吸引捕獵者的視線，但與海葵一起生活便可以受到保護。
海葵擁有分泌毒液的觸手。為了避免海葵的襲擊，小丑魚首先會接近海葵，從有毒的觸手沾上海葵分泌出的黏液。
之後，小丑魚會把黏液塗在身上，有了這保護層小丑魚便可自由地在海葵身邊生活了。
The clown fish is a brightly coloured fish that attracts attention from its enemies in the sea. However the clown
fish can get protection if it lives amongst the anemones.
Sea anemones possess tentacles with cells that can emit poisonous stings. When a clown fish approaches
an anemone for the first time, it will collect the slimy discharge that drips from the tentacles. It does this to use the slimy discharge as a protection against attack by the sea anemones.
The clown fish will cover its body with the slimy discharge to give itself protection against the poisonous stings of the sea anemones. In this way the clown fish is free to move in and amongst the sea anemones without danger.
